The Speaker of the house of representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has asked a federal high court in Abuja, to send the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, to prison for disobeying court order.
The court presided by Justice Ahmed Ramat Muhammed, has ordered both PDP and APC to sheath their swords and maintain status quo until the court reaches a verdict on the decamping Speaker.
It could be recalled that the IG directed that the Speaker of the house of reps, be stopped from using the lower house of National Assembly. A step that has incurred the anger APC members.
The IG was summoned by the house of reps where he refused to recognize and address Tambuwal as ‘Mr Speaker’ saying his position is yet to be determined by court.
It’s on this basis that Tambuwal asks the court, through his lawyer, Latif Fagbemi, SAN to send the IG, Suleiman Abba to jail. Since he assumed the complainant, the judge and executioner, in a case that has the restraining order of the court.
Sahara Reporters gathered that Justice Ahmed Ramat Muhammed, instructed counsel to the Speaker to serve the motion on notice to IG’s lawyers.
