Vice President Namadi Sambo on Thursday said he is personally in support of the creation of New Gurara State out of the present Kaduna State.
Sambo, was present at the annual Afan festival held in Kagoro, Kaduna State, said the demand for Guara State was a positive agitation aimed at uplifting the quality of lives of the people.
“Therefore, the socio-political emancipation of a people lies in their conscious effort to champion a cause that will progressively move them to the next level,” he said.
The Vice President expressed Federal Government’s sympathy over the loss of lives and property in the Southern part of Kaduna State, saying that the government was committed in setting up a military formation that would ensure adequate security in the area.
He said “We shall defeat the evil of this insurgency and terrorist acts. God willing, we shall have peace and development in our dear country.’’
The Vice President also urged the people to be peaceful during and after the election year, saying that no ambition of any politician is worth the blood of any Nigerian.
“I want to draw our attention to the fact that this time around, no act of violence shall be tolerated.”
Sambo, however said that the present administration under Goodluck Jonathan is committed in revamping Nigerians tourism potential and to make it viable for investors which will in turn create employment and increase the wealth of the people.
He then added that not only has the Afan Festival unite the people of Kagoro but it had promoted the nations rich cultural tradition to the world.
Sambo, also use the opportunity to announce that the two Kagoro erosion project at Kajimi are both nearing completion. Also present were the Governor of Kaduna State, Governor Ramalan Yero, former GMD of NNPC Mr Paul Abiyong and the Chairman of the occasion President of Kagoro Development Association Mr Andrew Yakubu.
