CBN Will Soon Publish The Names Of Nigeria Treasury Looters. In recent times, there has been speculations, and accusations of alleged looters involving in Arm deals and Treasury theft. Apparently, President Buhari has ordered for the names of the Nigeria Treasury Looters to be published by CBN. Lately, In the 15th Session of the Anyiam Osigwe Foundation lecture in Abuja, which was attended by the president and other officials, Buhari addressed the fight against corruption. In his recent statement, he Admitted that a good number of people who abused their position stealing from national treasury are voluntarily returning the illicit funds. He continued by saying “In due course the Central Bank Of Nigeria will make information available to the public on the surrendered funds.”
The likes of Former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, Chief Raymond Dokpesi of Daar Communication Plc, former Sokoto state Governor Attahiru Bafarawa has been alleged with arm deals fraud of $2.1 billion. Most especially, that of the former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, who has been accused of looting $47 million from CBN.
Former Director of Finance in the office of the National security adviser (ONSA) Shuaibu Salisu, admitted that Dasuki ordered him to collect the funds. Also, he went on saying that the payment of 10 billion naire authorised by the former finance minister, was forwarded to Dasuki. With this same trend of accusations, the CBN governor who controls the single treasury account has also been linked to this illegal movement of funds.
Former Deputy National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olabode George, has also been the recent person alleged to have been involved in the Arm deals of about $30,000 from the former minister of state Bashir Yuguda as logistis for PDP reconciliation. Though he denied collecting any amount from Bashir Yuguda, describing it as “mischievous and deliberately fraudulent.”
Currently, a source says there is an ongoing investigation of retired military officers who are involved in the Nigeria treasury looting. With this, there is no doubt the present administration is working towards the fight against corruption. President Buhari made the statement during a recent lecture saying “Corrupt acts will always be punished and there will be no friend, no foe. We will strive to do what is fair and just at all times but people who refuse to embrace probity should have every cause to fear.” said the president.
