Nigeria oil workers unions (NUPENG and PENGASSAN) have agreed to suspend the Nationwide strike embarked by the oil workers due to unresolved issues pending with the Government including unfair labour practices and most especially the non passage of Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
The unions agreed to call off the strike action after both representative from both the unions and the Government met in a close – door meeting in Abuja.
The meeting which began last night lasted 12 hours.
According to Dailypost, a joint communique was issued at the end of the meeting by the leaders of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the government’s delegation led by the Supervising Labour Minister, Tanimu Turaki.
