The Nigeria Customs Service says it has no intention of withdrawing its personnel deployed at border stations in Kebbi and Sokoto States.
The clarification followed the reports making the round that Customs personnel in those areas have been withdrawn.
In a statement, Customs Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeniyi, says there was no written or verbal directive withdrawing officers from the borders or their patrol areas.
According to the statement, the Comptroller General has directed the reinforcement of patrol teams across the country in view of the security situation.
It urged state governments in the North West axis to disregard the allegation as officers are on the alert at their duty posts.
