Nigerian oil workers have commenced a nationwide strike today after Federal government unbundled NNPC into seven independent units.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, yesterday announced the unbundling of the oil company into seven units. The new units are Upstream, Downstream, Gas & Power, Refineries, Ventures, Corporate Planning & Services and Finance and Accounts.
The president of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Igwe Achese, said NUPENG will not lift fuel as from today 9th March 2016, until they know how the manpower that would operate in the 30 companies would be managed.
