New Minister of State assumes duty at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs


Hajiya Hauwa Lawan Baffa has on Wednesday, 18th March, 2015, reported for duty as Minister of State in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, where she was received by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Stephen Orise Oru and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Fatima Bamidele.

In a brief ceremony to welcome her, which was attended by all the Directors of the Ministry, Dr. Stephen assured the Minister of State of his cooperation in discharging their responsibilities for the rapid development of the nine oil producing States of the Niger Delta Region.

He informed the Minister of State that the Ministry has a number of on-going development projects in the region, including the East-West Road, which he said was 90% completed.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, briefed the Minister of State on the mandate of the Ministry, and assured her that she and the Directors of the Ministry will cooperate in implementing programmes and projects designed for the rapid development of the Niger Delta Region.

While responding, the new Minister of State, Hajiya Hauwa Lawan Baffa pledged her loyalty and total commitment to achieving the goals of the Ministry; adding that “I look forward to a good working relationship with the Minister, the Permanent Secretary and all the staff of the Ministry.”
