Judge distances self from ‘Tambuwal must go’ suit

Justice E S chukwu, of Federal High court has withdrawn from the suit seeking to unseat the Speaker of house of representatives, Aminu Tambuwal. A member of the house of representatives, Abiodun Akinlade, has sued the speaker on the ground of his defection from PDP (a party he contested on and won in 2011) to All Progressive Congress APC.

Consequently, Tambuwal has expressed dissatisfaction with the assigned Judge, Chukwu, seeking a neutral judge. This is because, according to him, Justice Chukwu has presided over a PDP’s case back in 2013, where he ruled ‘All correct’ even when there were problems in the party.

He therefore, filed a petition challenging the assignment of the suit to Justice E S Chukwu. Tambuwal, thus, made it clear he has no confidence on the Judge.

It was on this basis that Justice Chukwu deemed himself unfit to preside over the case and therefore, distances himself.
