President Goodluck Jonathan says INEC did not consult him before the Elections were rescheduled from February to March 28 and April 11as being speculated by some Nigerians.
He made the clarification in Abuja while answering questions on Presidential Media Chat.
President Jonathan said that INEC took the decision to adjust the election date after due consultations with security agencies and other stakeholders.
Also in the media chat, the President says government would ensure that the abducted Chibok girls are rescued within the next few weeks.
President Jonathan said that tremendous gains have been made by the country’s security forces in collaboration with neighbouring countries against Boko Haram.
He said the success of the war against terror largely depends on patriotism by Nigerians and stressed the need for citizens to support government efforts against insurgency.
President Jonathan used the occasion to correct the wrong impression being created by some people that he said stealing was not corruption.
He said that the present administration has prosecuted more cases of corruption than any administration.
President Jonathan gave the assurance that credible election would be conducted by INEC and a government would be inaugurated come May 29th.
