Fire outbreak in INEC warehouse in Abuja

Fire gut the warehouse of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Abuja.

The fire which started at 11:00 PM was contained by 2:00AM due to the quick response of officials of INEC and the Federal Fire Service, who forced their way into the warehouse.

The Commissioner in charge of Electoral Operations and Logistics, Mohammed Hamanga, said that the incidence occurred immediately after power was restored, leading up to the sudden sound from an electric panel within one of the warehouses.

According to him, “people should not panic that it will not affect the upcoming elections since all materials relating to the elections have been dispatched to states” he said.
