With the ongoing struggles due to the pandemic that has been widespread since early 2020, there’s been a lot of changes made to everyday life as well as to the things that we enjoy. This includes plays, movie theatres, concerts, and many other pastimes that typically involve the gathering of many people to watch and to make which isn’t allowed by most standards during these times. To give you all a better idea of the actual impact and details of this idea, here’s some information on films, concerts, and more that are on hold due to the pandemic.

Broadway
In March of 2020, it was announced that Broadway productions were on hold and hoped to be back in action in April, but the shutdown was continually expanded and recently has been announced to continue through until at least May of 2021. This is massively difficult for Broadway workers as well as viewers, as the Broadway League explained it has a $14.8 billion economic impact on the city, and thousands of workers depend on Broadway too.
Comic-Con
Comic-Con in New York is a culmination of a lot of subcultures that enjoy comics and more. It’s something that veteran attendees and newer to fandom individuals look forward to heavily, and is great for finding people that have similar interests. However, due to the pandemic, New York’s Comic-Con was announced to be canceled in person and instead streamed live on YouTube for virtual view and participation.

Spider-Man 3
As with many other Marvel movies, Spider-Man 3 has had a major following awaiting its release for months. It was scheduled to come out in early 2021 by Marvel, but complications involving filming during the pandemic as well as theatre shutdowns meant that it’s now meant to debut in December of 2021 instead. Fans were disappointed in the long wait time, but most of course know that it was impossible not to be changed.
Music Waits
Multiple long-awaited albums and projects or concerts that were scheduled for 2020 had to be moved or stopped entirely during the pandemic’s times. Sold out concerts such as Billie Eilish’s tour were canceled with new dates undetermined as of yet and albums such as Adele’s fourth that have been showing progress or had announced drop times also had to be moved around. Artists often speak of it as unfortunate but necessary and try to treat it as a positive change.
TV Show Complications
Television has drastically shifted throughout this pandemic due to the restrictions on gathering for production or other activities as well as other impacts. Dozens or more heavily popular shows have been moved around in their new season premieres as well as a handful have been completely postponed until further notice. Many people have speculated the loss of funding from time without new airing could lead to some shows not being able to start back up either.

2020 Olympic Games
Even the Olympics were hit by the impacts of the pandemic in 2020, the 2020 Olympic Games had to be moved to 2021, and specific dates were not determined. However, the dates were released later on and they’re now scheduled to be July 23rd through August 8th of 2021, with the Paralympic Games occurring in early September of 2021. This leads to the question of if they’ll be considered the 2021 games or there will be another event too for this year.
Sadly, there’s more that can be added to this list of information as well that has been canceled or put on hold because of the rules and regulations surrounding the pandemic. But this gives anyone interested some better insight on this issue and what has gone on since shutdowns began as well as what may come back around in time. There’s so much more that is going on in our own personal lives during this time, which makes it harder to have common enjoyment activities being limited or taken away too. Hopefully, things will get easier with time.
