Federal government on Thursday flagged off N113 billion dualization of Sapele-Ewu road in Delta and Edo states.
The Minister of works Mr. Mike Onolememen at the official flag-off ceremony of the dualization of the road project said the project has two sections; section 1: Sapele-Agbor in Delta state while section II is Agbor-Ewu in Edo state.
The Minister said that the road dualization upon completion would reduce travel time of road users, reduce cost of vehicle maintenance and increase socio-economic activities of the communities along the alignment.
Mr. Onolememen however, called on State government of Edo and Delta to avail the contractors of all the necessary security throughout the 30 months duration of the project to facilitate its earliest completion.
He said that President Jonathan has strong desire to improve the lives of the people through the provision of world-class road infrastructure linking the states to other parts of the country.
Earlier in his remarks, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State urged the Federal Government to build a fly-over in
Amukpe roundabout when the dualization of the road project commences in order to save lives of people particularly strangers.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner in charge of Asaba and Osubi Airport, Mr Austine Ayemidejor said that the construction of the road project was political but a reality.
