Thursday 1 and Friday 2 January 2015, has been declared as public holidays. January 1st for the new year celebration, while January 2nd is meant for Eid el Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammed.
This announcement was made by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Makaji Abdulahi, on behalf of the federal government.
He urged Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to join hands and pray for the peace and unity of the country. While the nation has been kept half awake because of the incessant crisis, Makaji said that if the citizens can come together in prayers with one mind, the country would be reunited in peace once again.
