Ekiti State Government has announced the offer of appointment as a Graduate Assistant Lecturer to Mr. Tawose Olamide Tunde, the best graduating student of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti.
Dr. Ayodele Fayose made the announcement at the 20th Convocation Ceremony of the state university held at the institution’s Main Auditorium at the weekend.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola said the gesture to the young scholar was to reward his academic diligence and also encourage others to strive for academic excellence.
Mr. Tawose is expected to resume work officially after completing his National Youth Service Programme in October this year.
He congratulated the graduands on their success and rewarding outcome of years of toil and perseverance while felicitating with their parents and guardians who have labored to see them through the rigours and demands of university education.
The governor who charged the graduating students to allow the academic and moral values they have acquired in the university system bear positively on their day to day life assured them of governments continuous efforts to reduce unemployment among the graduate populace.
Fayose, who was the Visitor to the Institution, commended the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oladipo Aina and the University Management for the prudent management of the limited resources at their disposal with an assurance that his government would be relentless at finding ways of meeting the needs of the university community as the state finances improves.
While congratulating the University on the recent full accreditation given to the University’s College of Medicine by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC), the Visitor expressed his optimism that the report of the Medical and Dental Council which was being awaited will be favourable.
Earlier in his address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oladipo Aina disclosed that the 20th Convocation Ceremony of the University formalized the graduation of 2, 973 full time students, 1,411 Part Time, 485 Sandwich, 1,731 Affiliate Colleges and 307 Postgraduate students of which 19 students earned First Class Honours Degree.
He charged the graduating students of various cadres to be good ambassadors of the citadel of learning wherever they found themselves and to live by the creed of their convocation which is to be found worthy in learning and character.
Prof. Aina expressed the appreciation of the University to Governor Ayodele Fayose for his spirited efforts which has yielded fruit in the full accreditation of the University’s College of Medicine.
