One Hundred first class degree holders of Delta State origin have been presented a scholarship of N5m each for further studies by the Delta State Government.
At the ceremony in Asaba, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan said the gesture was a demonstration of his commitment to human capital development, and the education sector.
Governor Uduaghan urged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the state, assuring that the state government will continue to encourage intelligent graduates to pursue their Masters and PHD degree programmes.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Mr. Charles Emetulu, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry,
Mr. Eric Osharode, said a total of two hundred and thirty three persons had benefited from the First Class Graduate Scholarship Scheme since 2010.
Beneficiaries promised to make good use of the money.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that the beneficiaries were first class graduates of 2013 academic year.
