Mr Alkanaolu Smart, was returning from work through Cele express to Ikotun-Egbe, where he boarded Keke Napep (Tricycle) going to Ikotun egbe. He got to Jakande estate and alighted because of heavy traffic.
According to reports, a senior police officer DSP, Adeola Timothy Falowo, came down from his jeep and attacked him, mistaking him for the Keke rider, whom he said scratched his pathfinder jeep. Smart’s attempt to explain that he was a passenger not the rider proved abortive, and before Smart could explain himself further, he began to beat him and hit his head with an object, some people joined him in beating Mr Smart.
After he was beaten, Falowo pushed Smart into his trunk and took him to Ejigbo Police Division, where he was detained and made to pay N65,000 before he was released.Mr Smart was inflicted with serious injuries and his health has deteriorated that he has been taken to different hospitals where he was rejected due to the severity of the injuries. He was later taken to university of Benin teaching hospital, UBTH where it was confirmed by the doctors that he had internal bleeding which caused total break down of his nervous system. He has since spent over N600,000, yet no improvement.
Efforts to contact Mr Falowo for assistance proved abortive, and he is even threatening to deal with him if he should call again.
