Just three weeks after Ado Ekiti’s prison break, About 270 prisoners have again escaped from the Medium Security Prison in Minna, Niger state. Channels TV reported that gunmen invaded the prison Saturday evening, while sporadic gunshots filled the air.
The guards were overpowered by the gunmen at the facility before setting the inmates free.
Presently, the attackers are not known, however, four of the inmates have been re-arrested.
This is just a day after President Goodluck Jonathan confirmed Dr. Peter Ekpendu as the Comptroller General of Prisons. He replaced Aminu Sule, who before the appointment was in acting capacity.
While the previous attackers in the recent cases were believed to be the members of Boko Haram, nobody has taken responsibility for the attack in Minna prison.
