Two Brothers Drowned During Spiritual Bath In Ajah

A member of the new Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ajah area of Lagos State has been arrested by the police over the alleged death of two men from the same parent during a spiritual bath at the weekend.

The father and the step-mother of the deceased, allegedly took them to the church for spiritual cleansing last Thursday where the unfortunate incident took place.

After three days, it was reportedly suggested that they should complete their the cleansing with a spiritual bath. but their step brother  refused and left them at the stream located in Ogombo area of Aja, leaving the deceased, Abiodun and Ayinde aged 20 and 23 respectively.He left them behind with their step-mother and pastor of the church identified as Pastor Samuel Olusoji.

As the spiritual bath ensued, things reportedly took a tragic dimension, as both Abiodun and Ayinde got drowned during the spiritual bath. The incident were said to have been reported to Ogombo police division and a team of policemen consequently stormed the church.

On sighting the policemen, some members of the church located at 739, Ori-Oke Ibulun Ilasan Street, Jakande Ajah, including the pastor, took to their heels, but that was not so with the church’s secretary, who was arrested and whisked into the police van.

The corpses of the two has been deposited at Mainland Hospital mortuary, Yaba, where autopsy would be conducted soon.

“Meanwhile, the autopsy report will form basis for our investigation. It is only then that we can be able to establish the cause of their death.”
