The All Progressives Congress (APC) Thursday called for the sack of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, for his inability to protect lives and properties in Rivers State.
The APC Deputy National Secretary, Mr. Ngofa Oji, who made the call, stated that the IGP had shown profound inefficiency in discharging his duty.
The acting National Chairman of the party, Engr. Segun Oni had on Wednesday at a press briefing stated that the security situation in Rivers State is clearly an affront on the Federal Government’s power to protect life and property within its territory.
Ngofa, at a media chat, accused the IGP of complacency, as he stated that all the petitions written to him by the party had not received any attention.
Lamenting, on the inefficiency of the IGP to curb the killings in Rivers State, the APC Deputy National Secretary said: “These matters were reported and it shouldn’t have gotten to the point where we are now if the institutions charged with the responsibility to take care of these things are doing their work.
“We would not have gotten to the point where we are, where people are beginning to wonder if actually we have an APC government and APC members are targeted in Rivers State are being killed the way they are doing.”
