A workable system that would engender increased industrial development in the state is what the state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun wants in the state.
Amosun who was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, gave the charge at Ota while speaking at the 25th AGM of the state branch manufacturers Association of Nigeria, (MAN).
He also noted that such initiatives would be and added incentive to job creation, poverty alleviation, and food security programs in line with the government’s industrial policy.
He also stressed the facts that his administration had remained committed to the successful implementation of the five cardinal programs as encapsulated in the government’s agendas of rebuilding Ogun state.
The governor said that Ogun state had the highest positive number of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the country over fifty new companies opening shops in the state within just past forty months. ” Ogun state is now one of the preferred investment destinations in the country. It has the largest concentration of industries in Nigeria. And just last month, our state was ranked among the best five states to do business in Nigeria according to the 2014 report of the World Bank Group”
Dr.Frank Jacobs, the president of MAN, who was represented by Rev. Isaac Agoye, praised the governor for doing greatly in the area of infrastructural developments. He expressed the confident that Amosun’s government would continue to accord the desired sectors enough attentions to play their roles in creating employments and developing the economy.
While delivering his paper at the occasion, Dr. Tunji Babatunde of the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan also says that Nigeria need to pursue a deliberate policy to diversify her economy, increase industry out put, and attract PPPA!= Public Private Partnership Arrangements as he puts it.
The out going chairman of the state branch of MAN,Dr.D. Ogutuga, in his welcome address said that manufacturing sector performed fairly well in the year under review as a result of enduring efforts of manufacturers as well as the fiscal incentives by the government to various sub-sectors of the industry in recent years.
Ogutuga also spoke well of the state government in the areas of security,traffic management, road construction,maintenance, and beautification of the environment.
