If you’re planning on proposing any time soon we have both good and bad news for you: This one-of-a-kind, never-done-before proposal might give you some inspiration, but it’s also going to be really hard to beat. Lee Loechler broke the record for most-romantic and most-creative marriage proposal recently when he proposed to his high school sweetheart in the most unexpected way. To be honest, though, he had an advantage not many people have, since Loechler is a professional filmmaker.

It was a night like any other when Sthuthi David and her boyfriend Lee Loechler went to see an all-time favorite, Sleeping Beauty, in the local movie theater; little did David know this night wouldn’t end like any other. They were enjoying the film, when suddenly David started to notice something in the scene wasn’t right – the characters looked suspiciously similar to her boyfriend and her. That wasn’t the only thing different about this screening, though. To perfect his proposal, Lee filled the movie theater with family and friends, who were seated in the back rows (as well as some strangers, so as not to arouse suspicions).

Loechler has been working with an illustrator for six months to animate his girlfriend and him into her favorite Disney classic sleeping Beauty. He planned this moment for months, and so he though of it to the smallest detail: he had someone film the couple from the moment their characters appeared on the screen, to the moment of the proposal. David was puzzled for a few moments, until she started to realize what was happening.

David’s favorite scene was changed to something even better: the moment the prince arrives at the sleeping beauty’s bed, instead of kissing her the iconic, magical kiss, the prince, in the face Lee, gets down on one knee and pulls out a ring. He doesn’t propose to the princess on screen, however, but tosses the ring to the real-life Loechler, sitting next to David in the theater hall, and that’s when Lee takes out a ring and pops the question.

To top it all off, when he got on one knee, Lee said to his cardiologist girlfriend, “I love you with my whole heart, including all of its ventricals, atriums, valves,” a private joke of the two, which had to be explained to the audience. David could have never asked for a better, more romantic proposal, combining all the things she loves – Disney, her nearest and dearest friends and family, and her long-time boyfriend. How do you react to such a proposal? Lee later shared their happy moment on social media, and naturally, a creative proposal such as this one reaped plenty of views and comments, mostly praising Lee for his creativity – praises well deserved!
