Cracked
A $1,000 phone with a broken screen that you can’t afford to fix because you are still paying the phone off in installments. If you had a cheap phone, you would just replace it if the screen was cracked. But since you spent a fortune on an expensive phone, you are going to stare at that depressing cracked screen forever, because you figure that replacing it would be a waste of money.
This reminds me of how I’m always afraid to eat a hot dog or ice cream or anything that might drip on my clothes when I’m wearing something expensive and nice. When I wear something cheap, on the other hand, I dig right in, without a care in the world. So maybe buying expensive things really isn’t worth it?
