No Pain, No Gain
We have all heard the saying “beauty is pain”, and unfortunately in our society many times it is. Today we are shocked when we hear about painful beauty practices which were popular many years ago or in other societies. Today it is hard to believe that 19th-century women wore corsets that could have broken their ribs and that Chinese women bound their feet.

But even today women endure pain all the time for the sake of beauty: be it a Brazilian wax, hair extensions, cosmetic surgery, facial peels, or walking in high heels. One might say that every woman has a choice if to endure these painful practices or not. But does she really?
