Some people take their yearbook quote seriously and spend months coming up with those words of wisdom, while others take it more lightly and want to leave behind something funny for people to remember them by. Whichever way they decide to go with, the result is always entertaining. This gallery of yearbook quotes, including some inspiring celebrity quotes, is ought to take you back to those beautiful, nostalgic years of high school, and make you reminisce about your own yearbook quote.
The supportive parent
“I’m surprised you graduated.” – This is not a negative quote but a victorious one – because she proved everyone wrong (including her mom, apparently) and graduated.
This quote might have seemed funny at the time, but I’m betting that looking back at it fifty years from now won’t be so entertaining.
The clueless one
“So I can write anything here and it will be on the yearbook?” I’m guessing he didn’t fully understand how the yearbook quote thing works, or else someone in the yearbook committee made a mistake.
Whatever the reason, the result is rather unfortunate, and this guy’s memory from high school will be this clueless moment.
Self-humor
“So I heard the ladies like bad boys. Lucky for them, I’m bad at everything.” – I have to admit, this is a successful quote – it’s funny without trying too much, and who doesn’t appreciate a little self-humor?
Also, this quote is quite relatable and sums up pretty good many people’s experience of high school. Over all, not a bad quote.
The tired one
“Why fall in love when you can fall asleep?” You know those people who are always tired throughout high school? Judging by this quote, this girl was probably one of them. But can you blame her? Being in high school is exhausting.
But we must hand it to her – she is pretty funny. And who wouldn’t relate to this quote? This is an eternal quote, it’ll still be relevant even twenty years after high school.
Beyoncé
“Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.” This quote is here to prove that even before she was famous, Beyoncé was always an influencer.
It might lack some humor, but this inspirational quote pretty much explains the singer’s huge success – her motto is this deep and inspiring, how could she not become an inspiration for others?
The Millennial
“#Nofilter #girl #senior #SarahSunday #TBT #I’mOut” One thing is certain – high school quotes from the fifties didn’t look anything like this one.
This quote might embody everything that is wrong in our generation, but you have to admit, it’s pretty clever. For all you know, she might just be mocking the Y generation.
The inspirational one
“Put something inspirational.” – Good job. This didn’t go as well as his mother had hoped. This guy can learn something about inspiration from Beyoncé.
But at least he got something funny out of it, though not too original. Many people adopted this theme of writing what their parents wanted them to put as a quote.
John Legend
“All men should be feminists. If men care about women’s rights, the world will be a better place.” Now this is one inspirational quote – can you believe John Legend wrote that in high school?
This quote should not be hidden inside his forgotten yearbook, but integrated into one of his songs or even tweets. This inspirational quote almost beats the one Beyoncé had.
The modest one
“It’s weird knowing I’m the best looking one on this page.” – Every class has this modest guy, and we have to admit he’s pretty entertaining, in a lack-of-self-awareness kind of way.
Nonetheless, this is a funny quote, we must give him that. And let’s give him the benefit of the doubt, for all we know he might be kidding and trying to make everyone laugh.
The witty one
“No, I did not have a farm.” – This quote only works if you read his name first. We all grew up on the tune “Old McDonald had a farm…” and so did Joe, apparently. And my guess is he was badgered about his name throughout high school.
But at least he managed to make lemonade, and made something positive out of his name – a witty and amusing yearbook quote.
The siblings
“Knock knock. Who’s there? Not the triplets. We graduated.” It’s not everyday you get to see a triplet graduating together, and their quote is one of my favorites.
I wonder which one of the three siblings came up with the idea for this quote, and you must admit – they look nothing alike!
Ryan Gosling
“I’m attracted to films that have strong female characters because there are strong female characters in my life.” Ryan Gosling’s yearbook quote was more of a confession than a statement.
But you must admit, it does sound like him; he does always play rather feminine or gentle characters in his film and he has this sweet side to him.
The brutally honest
“Remember to always be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be somebody else.” – Hearing the truth isn’t always easy, but sometimes it’s necessary.
This guy was simply trying to give his class mates some sound proof advice, and he’s not trying to sugar coat it.
Short and to the point
“I am usually not one for speeches, so goodbye.” This girl quoting Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation says it all without saying much. “Goodbye” is the best word to sum up high school.
She got the idea of the yearbook quote figured out, and I see a bright future for her. there’s not much to say after 6 years of high school except goodbye.
Taylor Lautner
“I hate shirts.” – It’s almost as if Taylor Lautner predicted his role in the Twilight Saga as Jacob the werewolf, because in the films he is mostly shirtless.
Judging by his yearbook quote, this role was perfect for him. Other than that, it seems like something that truly describes him, so it’s a fair quote.
Tina Fey
“Five years from now I will be … very, very fat.” – Tina Fey knew what she was doing in her quote. As she explained in an interview, she figured she can’t go wrong with a quote like that: if she doesn’t get fat, no harm done, and if she does, she can say – I called it!
Lucky for her they asked them in the yearbook to say what or where they’d be in five years, and the comic actress took this opportunity to be funny and creative.
The disappointed one
“This was nothing like High School Musical, how upsetting.” Many of us grew up on films portraying high school or college and entered those years with high hopes and expectations.
And let’s be honest, high school is never as fun as they make it out to be in the movies. Neither is college. It can be very disappointing, but at the end of the day, high school is what we make of it.
The serious one
“If it don’t make money, it don’t make sense.” – This girl understands how life works, and judging by her quote, she’s going places. Maybe to the stock market.
She’s not here to play games, she’s serious and determined about her future. Can you imagine having figured out life like this in high school? Perhaps this quote is a little too serious for a yearbook quote.
Owen Wilson
“Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it’s been.” “My aim is true.” “Don’t worry, Al, we’ll get rid of those little critters.” – First thing’s first, what’s up with having three quotes?
And if that’s the case, at least make them good ones. Seems like the great actor wasn’t too original in his teens, and he picked the three most banal quotes for his yearbook.
The philosopher
“Who, what, when, where, why and how?” So many questions, so not enough answers. This philosophical quote is a lot deeper than it looks – this girl is asking questions about the meaning of life.
The curiosity makes us wonder – did high school leave her with these philosophical questions because she’s learned so much and she’s hungry for more knowledge, or is she really asking this out of confusion?
The Netflix addict
“You’ve been watching for the last twelve hours straight, are you okay?” – Getting this message from Netflix means you’ve gone too far with your binge. And this might explain your grades.
But joking aside, we can all relate to this quote, and unlike other quotes on this list, this one is likely to be relevant in another fifty years.
Darren Criss
“AARRHHHHUNNNGH!!!!” – Glee star Darren Criss chose to quote Chewbacca for his yearbook quote. Apparently, the comic actor was funny also back in high school.
Many people can probably relate to this quote, especially fans of the classic science fiction franchise. This is not only a Chewbacca quote, but it can also be interpreted as the groan of frustration characterizing high school.
Martha Stewart
Even before she made a living out of it, Martha Stewart was a life coach at heart. That’s why her yearbook quote reads: “I do what I please and I do it with ease.”
This is a truly inspirational life motto, and she makes a tough rival for Beyoncé. Judging by the celebrities’ quotes, people don’t change much from their teens.
The activist
“100 character limit for our senior quote? That seems unfair. We refuse to be constructed by these ru.” – You have to admit, the irony here is priceless.
But this guy was trying to fight for the entire class, fighting for their rights as high school students. His rebellion failed, but at least he got a funny quote out of it.
The grandma
“You become doctor now?” – this quote might embody many stereotypes, but nonetheless, it’s pretty hilarious. And this girl sure has a good sense of humor.
I wonder whether or not this girl went on to become a doctor, or did she completely disappoint her grandma. One was or the other, she’ll always have a funny yearbook quote to comfort her.
The modest one #2
“Beyoncé said pretty hurts… no wonder I’m always in pain.” – As it turns out, there isn’t just one modest guy in every class, but a few of them.
This poetic quote might have seemed funny at the time, but I bet when he looks back at his yearbook in fifty years, he wouldn’t find it so amusing.
Sigourney Weaver
So far, celebrity quotes are very impressive, and Sigourney Weaver’s quote is no different: “Please, God, Please, don’t let me be normal!” This is a rather serious quote, but in a touching way.
This is a good wish, too. And it seems like it came true, since she went on to become a movie star like no other.
The philosopher #2
“Just because you’re trash doesn’t mean you can’t do great things. It’s called garbage can, not garbage cannot.” – These words of wisdom are sure to inspire many people reading this in their yearbook.
This motivational sentence can be a life motto for many people, and it’s great as a yearbook quote – it’s both funny and original, and probably based on true life experiences.
The hungry one
“Why can’t I just eat my waffle?” – There are many fine quotes on this list, but this might be the best one yet. There’s nothing snarky to be said about this quote, because who wouldn’t relate to it?
Essentially, what high school is all about is preventing you from eating your waffle in peace. Those simple six words describe high school perfectly.
The Harry Potter fan
“Master has given Megan a diploma. Megan is freeee!” – We’ve had the Star Wars fan and the Netflix addict, and now we meet the Harry Potter fan. Every class must have at least one of them.
Still, this is a good quote – it combines a great quote of a beloved character, and it fits perfectly with her current situation – graduating high school is equal to gaining freedom.
The modest one #3
“If you like water than you already like 72% of me!” – This humble Joe must have a lot of confidence putting a quote like this on the yearbook.
But he does seem like a friendly guy. The quote is funny, but it’s not too original, though. Nonetheless, this is a safe quote to go with if you’re lacking creativity.
The clueless one #2
“I don’t know, you can just put some quote in for me.” – Can you imagine seeing this result as your yearbook quote? This poor guy truly hoped they would put some banal quote in for him, but this is what he got instead.
Quite an unpleasant surprise, but hey, at least it’s funny. To be honest, it’s better than some other quotes on this list trying to be funny or sophisticated. He managed to be funny without trying too hard.
Carlos Carlos
“I hate my name.” – Can you blame him? but the good news is that now that he’s graduated, it means he’s eighteen and he can legally change his name.
His name might be hilarious, but at least one good thing came out of it – he got a good yearbook quote, with just the right amount of self humor.
Thinking ahead
“See kids, I told you I was hot in high school.” – This guy is thinking ahead, and he’s prepared to show his future kids his high school yearbook.
This guy will be happy going through his high school yearbook years from now with his children, proudly showing them his flattering photo along with his witty quote.
The vegetarian
“I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants.” – This guy has some profound values.
Whatever the reason, vegetarians are happy to accept everyone willing to join their cause, and it doesn’t make his quote any less funny.
The makeup artist
“Makeup brushes aren’t meant to be swirled in makeup palettes like it’s paint.” – This is some practical advice, and it seems like the girl knows that she’s talking about.
It seems like she’s destined to become a makeup artist after graduation, seeing as her yearbook quote is a makeup advice – this must be important to her.
The Kardashians fan
“What if we spell ‘people’ like this peeple. That would be funny, I think.” – These words of wisdom coming from Kim Kardashian came in handy for this guy’s quote.
For all we know, he chose this quote as a gesture for the public figure, or he might just find this an amusing quote for everyone to enjoy.
