The frog’s ability to live through subzero temperatures is due to a phenomenon known as cryobiosis. A few species of frogs, including the wood frog, can actually freeze solid in the winter, effectively stopping all of their bodily functions. When temperatures begin to rise again, and the frogs thaw, they come back to life as if nothing ever happened!
