#8: Only Russia Separates North Korea and Finland
Look at a map of northern Eurasia, and this suddenly becomes obvious. Finland shares a long eastern border with Russia. North Korea also shares a short northeastern border with Russia near the Tumen River. Consequently, only one country separates Finnish territory from North Korean territory. They are still thousands of miles apart, naturally, because Russia happens to be enormous. Geography occasionally creates facts that sound like tricks because our mental maps dramatically underestimate just how wide Russia really is.
