#17: Wide-Brim Hats

Large floppy hats became common as outdoor concerts and park gatherings grew more popular around 1967. The oversized, flexible brim shield the face from strong sunlight during long afternoons outside. Soft felt, wool, and woven straw were the most common materials. The style, often called the “floppy hat,” fit perfectly with the relaxed spirit of the era. Both men and women wore them, including musicians performing on outdoor stages.
