#13: Flower Crowns
Flowers worn in the hair became widely visible in 1967 during the Summer of Love in San Francisco. Young women placed daisies, roses, or carnations directly into long hair or braided them into simple wreaths. Participants at peace marches also adopted the look that same year. The gesture reflected the message of nonviolence promoted by demonstrators who opposed the Vietnam War and supported civil rights campaigns.
