Chernobyl Reactor Liquidation
This photograph shows liquidator workers clear radioactive debris from the roof of the infamous reactor number four after the Chernobyl disaster struck in Ukraine. These workers throw the waste to the ground where it will be covered by the sarcophagus.
The work has to be done very quickly, as these people only have mere seconds to reach a pile of debris, shovel it to the load, and throw it among the ruins. This kind of work is extremely dangerous with deadly ramifications not just for the workers, and it had to be done in order to save the people of Ukraine.
