We all remember the media circus that shook California in 1974. Patty Hearst, the granddaughter of publishing titan William Randolph Hearst, was kidnapped by a group called the Symbionese Liberation Army. Spoiler alert: she actually joined her captors. Under the alias “Tania,” she ridiculed her ultra-wealthy parents on taped radio broadcasts. She even held a rifle during an armed bank robbery. Her rebellion humiliated her family’s conservative media empire.
