I have to say, while I once again (surprise, surprise) identify with the author here, I kind of wish that I didn’t. I don’t use travel agents, never have and probably never will. When I want to book a flight, I go online and try to find myself the best deal.

Yet deep down, I know that a travel agent is a sort of magical being who has all sorts of powers that I don’t—the ability to search many different sites, cross-reference, speak to industry professionals, and bargain with them. If travel agents do go extinct, it will be a sad day for us.
