Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh, 1989
Sense and Sensibility stars Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh fell in love while working on the set of BBC’s television drama Fortunes of War in 1987. Their marriage was sealed two years later, in 1989 during a colorful and lavish London ceremony. Unsurprisingly, the duo soon became known as the darling couple of British cinema during the 1990s. The pair went on to star in several movies together including the uber-successful, Much Ado About Nothing.
However, despite being a fans’ favorite couple, the stars ended their marriage in 1995, as a result of revelations that Kenneth was in love with another woman – an up-and-coming actress by the name of Helena Boham Carter – who you might know from movies such as Dark Shadows, Fight Club and the Harry Potter franchise.
