Audrey Hepburn and Andrea Dotti, 1969
The legendary Audrey Hepburn married Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti in 1969. The two met aboard a yacht owned by an Italian socialite and mutual friend in 1968. The pop culture icon was famous for her fashion sense, for her memorable film roles and for her highly-publicized, sensational love life.
This was Hepburn’s second marriage, after her publicized marriage to fellow actor and director Mel Ferrer, and she vowed it would be her last. She promised her new husband that she would settle into her new role as a mother and “Italian Housewife.” Hepburn had one child with Dotti, a son born in 1970. Dotti and Hepburn were married for 13 years, however, most of those years were plagued by Dotti’s extramarital affairs with younger women. As soon as her son Luca grew old enough to understand, Hepburn divorced Dotti.
