Princess Diana and Prince Charles, 1981
Prince Charles and Princess Diana were once a literal match made in heaven. Both parties were of royal descent, so after Prince Charles proposed to Diana at Windsor Castle, the pair married in a highly-publicized royal wedding in 1981 to which the whole world was able to tune in for. The public loved Princess Diana, who became known as The People’s Princess.
The problem was that the world never really tuned out of the relationship of the Prince and Princess. Charles had affairs with several other women during their marriage, and Diana warily decided to forfeit the marriage. Shortly after the highly publicized divorce, Diana lost her life in a tragic car crash in 1997, leaving behind a rose-colored mark on the once prolific royal family.
