Misty May-Treanor
Misty May-Treanor retired from playing volleyball professionally, but when she was at the height of her career, there wasn’t an opponent that could stand her way, at least during the later parts of her career. In 2004, 2008, and 2012, she took home the Olympic gold medals in beach volleyball, which was revenge for her fifth-place spot in Sydney 2000.
After winning the third-straight Olympic gold medal, she decided to hang up the net and call it a day. After retiring, she continued her studies by getting a master’s degree in Coaching at Concordia University in Irvine. While her playing days are over, her coaching career has just begun.
