Georgia Gould
The now-41-year-old Georgia Gould competed in the cross-country event in London, winning the third-place prize. It was the only event she competed during her only Olympic appearance in her career thus far. Outside of the Olympics, Georgia is one of the most decorated competitive bikers in the country, winning first place in numerous national contests from 2005 to 2012.
While Georgia never made an official comment about retiring, her appearance in London marked the final time she competed. Georgia became a vocal activist in raising awareness about the pay gap between female and male finishers. The proposal to narrow the pay gap was dubbed the Gould Formula.
