Alyssa Anderson
Alyssa Anderson took place in the women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay and smashed records, securing the gold medal that they lost in Beijing. This was the only time she participated in the Olympics as she retired not long after returning home. Alyssa’s sister, Haley, also attended the Games as a marathon swimmer, taking home the silver medal.
She didn’t register for the trials in 2016, which was a surprise since she was only about 24 at the time and at the height of her career. She became a professional swimmer during the 2007 Junior Pacific Championships, where she won silver medals in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter freestyle events.
