Hope Solo
Hope Solo was the goalkeeper for the US Women’s Soccer Team during the 2012 Olympics. She helped her team take home their fourth Olympic gold medal. Hope also attended the 2000 Olympic Games in Athens where she received the first of her two gold medals in soccer. She also participated in Rio de Janeiro, but they lost the penalty shootout 3-4 to Sweden.
It was during the 2016 Olympics that she became somewhat of a controversial figure. She paused the game for several minutes during the penalty shootout to change her gloves. Upon returning home, her antics in the Olympics forced the USWNT to terminate her national team contract.
