#46: If I want your opinion, I’ll ask for it
This goes back to the principle of keeping out of other people’s business – which has come up several times on this thread. It’s great to offer your advice or opinion when someone asks for it, but in some cases, it’s better to keep our mouths shut. People aren’t always interested in your opinion.
If you’re having a conversation with a friend or a coworker and they ask for your opinion or advice – by all means, feel free to share it! However, in some cases, people don’t want to hear your advice – they simply want to vent or share their side of the story. It’s important to know when to offer advice and when to offer an ear.
