From the time we’re born, we’re taught how to follow the rules. Everyone’s parents have taught them to say “please” and “thank you,” and we all know how to say “excuse me” when we bump into someone. But what about those unwritten rules – that are just as important? One Reddit user decided to pose the question, What is one “unwritten rule” you think everyone should know and follow? The answers that came pouring in from internet land were somewhere between amusing and disheartening. Depending on your social graces, you might want to take a few notes. Then again, you might just be the one person on earth who unconsciously follows all of them. How many of these “unwritten rules” would you like other people to learn?
#1: Turn it Down in Public
We all enjoy going out to restaurants, but there are some unspoken rules to follow. It’s okay to take your phone to a restaurant. It’s even okay to watch a video or a movie on your phone while you’re at the restaurant. You know what’s not okay? It’s not cool to turn it up to full blast so that every diner gets to hear the audio.
Most people go out to eat to simplify their day or to get a little rest and relaxation. When you refuse to use your ear pods or keep it at a reasonable volume, you’re basically taking away the only chance they may have for a peaceful meal. Please be courteous and turn the volume on your device down to a manageable level.
