#6: The Missing Wrecking Crew Tracking Sheets (1960s)
If you listened to the radio in the 1960s, you heard The Wrecking Crew. They were a group of legendary Los Angeles session musicians who played on thousands of pop hits. From The Beach Boys to The Mamas & the Papas, their sound was the backbone of the decade. The problem is, we don’t know the full story. In those days, studios routinely threw out the tracking sheets that listed who played on what. As a result, music historians will never know the complete list of uncredited players on hundreds of Top 40 records.
