Dropping the anchor
Even in a large ocean, there is only so far a boat can move overnight, so Willy knew that, with enough time, the rescue team could still find the pair of fishermen. He told them that the best thing to do now was to drop their anchor and stay where they were to wait for help.
It was here that further calamity struck the pair. Alvarenga hadn’t thought that they would need an anchor for the overnight trip, thinking they would be moving all night and then sailing back without stopping. Willy was worried that this would make the men harder to find, so sent the rescue team out straight away.
