While no one can be sure exactly what happened on that boat in the middle of the ocean for 14 months, Alvarenga’s book didn’t stop all of the questions about his version of events. Some think that the GPS was washed overboard, some that it had no battery, and some that Cordoba and Alvarenga had argued over whether or not to take an anchor.
One troubling question that kept being mentioned in hushed tones and tabloid reports was what had really happened to Cordoba. Did Alvarenga really throw him overboard after he’d died from starvation? Or had something more sinister happened?
