Now rescued, things were far from sorted for Alvarenga. His odd diet had resulted in anemia, dehydration meant that his legs and feet now held onto any water they could get, and his liver was full of parasites from the raw fish he had survived on.

It was going to take a while for the fisherman to get back on his feet, weak as he was from so much time at sea. He would also desperately need a haircut and to trim his beard, although that probably wasn’t the first thing on his mind. There were also other concerns after his long ordeal.
