Feeling destructive
He did still blame himself for Cordoba’s death, however. He would think over and over again why it wasn’t he who had died. He was angry at the situation, at God, and at the world and he had a lot of aggression to work out. Without anyone to talk to he decided to take it out on the boat itself.

Picking up a club that he had been using to kill turtles, birds, and fish, he attacked the boat’s motor. Perhaps he saw it as the root of all their problems, perhaps it was just the closest thing available to him on which he could make an impact. Totally destroying it seemed to make him feel a little better, but only for a while.
