Throwing overboard
Most importantly was keeping the boat steady in rapidly worsening weather. This meant lightening the load on the little craft. After spending an entire night catching all of their fish, they had to make the decision to throw it overboard to stop the boat from rocking dangerously. It must have been a heartbreaking decision.
With the waves still sloshing over the boat, the pair had to constantly bail out water with their buckets, exhausting themselves further with the hard work. Being so open to the elements for so long was beginning to take its toll on their health and their mental wellbeing, but there were more challenges to come.
