#7: Using the Icebox
An icebox is basically an earlier, less advanced version of the refrigerator. These wooden or metal cabinets were designed with hollow walls filled with insulating materials like cork or sawdust, ensuring the cold generated by a large block of ice was retained within. It wasn’t very convenient, as you needed to regularly drain the drip pan beneath the melting ice. It’s a good thing refrigerators were introduced soon after and became a household staple.
