We Need More Details from Grandpa
While remodeling his home, this gentleman’s grandfather was explicit with at least one instruction. Do not remove the sun stone. Highly recognized in Mexican tradition, the image is displayed in various forms, including on Mexican currency. An important historical sculpture similar to this piece resided for awhile in the National Anthropology Museum in Mexico City.
Now, to the real questions. How did grandpa come to possess this beautiful piece? Is it a simple replica? It looks to be of heavy material. It looks like the Real McCoy to us. One can wonder if it was carved for ceremonial use or simply to display. Why did grandpa not impart more information to his grandkids? It seems he felt it would somehow protect them, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so stern about keeping it.
