This particular piece of furniture seems rather odd considering the drawers don’t have sides. However, if you’re painting or drawing on canvas – it’s easy to imagine wanting them to lay flat without getting ruined. Not having sides on the cabinet allows for more room in the drawer and keeps the edges of the material from curling up.
