From Amazon to your Ancestors
Enjoying the view of the water on the Miraflores Beach in Lima, Peru, this person came across a beautifully carved wooden stick. The hand and star wooden carving, as it turns out, are meaningful in Peruvian culture. Known as a Ceremonial Chonta, this object is actually carved from a palm tree known as the Chonta Palm Tree.
While this lucky person likely ended up using this as a decorative piece, it’s originally intended to be used in traditional healing practices. This Peruvian healing stick is often used during healing ceremonies. Interestingly enough, you can actually purchase one of these off of Amazon, though I don’t know that your ancestors would approve of that.
